Subject: an idea

i was thinking that if we only changed clothes once a week we could restructure time. it would require a certain level of denial about certain structures already in place of course, but think it could really make a difference in terms of the way we use and think about alloted time and if the whole world were complicit then we will have essentially succeeded in slowing the passage of time, who cares about the actual fact of things, the revolution of the moon is a mere footnote.

anyways, time passes so fast for me these days, i feel like this is already the case.

Strawberry Fields this morning.

This morning I woke up in the middle of a dream, I suppose, reading the scrolling lyrics of Strawberry Fields Forever, as if I were in a Karaoke bar. It was 5:15 but I didn't really have to get up until 6:30. I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't. It's something that has been happening to me more often lately. I can't sleep right. I think I am having some generalized anxiety issues. I had to get out of bed and work on something. So I made this bad photoshop piece, depicting my hippie dream. Does hearing the Beatles music in my dreams make me a hippie or just lucky? I don't know, but I rarely even remember my dreams so this was a welcome change.

Virginia Beach, yesterday...

We skated John's TF and then went looking for some street spots. We didn't find much, which is pretty well documented here. NIck got a lot of footage from the day though and I am assuming a webisode is to follow...

Killer Bro Vibes

Gnarly Neal has officially started a blog. He is in a fraternity at UVA. This could get crazy. KillerBroVibes.blogspot.com John Chaplain might have met his match in this category.

*oh, and I have no idea why it looks like I am smelling his beer, I think I was trying to drink it.

Class work

I had to make an animated .gif for my Computer Graphics class, demonstrating the technique using Photoshop. It had to last at least 30 seonds, and the topic had to do with "Increasing Awareness." I kept it simple, scanning in hand drawn images and text.

Shredding Virginia Beach with John Chaplain

Today at 3:30, Templeton and I met John in Virginia Beach for the ceremonial christening of his new box. He finished it Friday night but this is the first time it has been skated. It is a man sized box built to perfection. I seriously don't think, in 15 years skating, I have ever seen a box built so well! It's like a solid brick- skate light, sanded down screws, the works... this thing is not for the lazy man skater, its tall! I put together a short video on the session this afternoon with the help of Templeton behind the lens of my Canon digital elph. Enjoy.

*Oh and by the way, there is a reason that insanely awesome looking mini ramp, in the background, wasn't in this video; it's not quite ready yet...

John built a box fit for the Xgames!

Happy Thanksgiving

Chuck Klosterman is the biggest music nerd in the entire universe

Probably one of the most hilarious things I have read in a long time is Chuck Klosterman's "Me, On Shuffle" in his latest Esquire online article. Make sure to click on the respective red links in the article to get the full impact of the article. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Me-not traveling on Thanksgiving eve.

Fall ride

Amazon's Kindle

This thing could change the world, or not. It's basically Amazon's attempt at changing reading the way Apple changed music several years ago, but I'm not sure 85% of the population is ready for this yet (though I could be very wrong). Although I imagine it to be a wonderful new gadget for some, the purists are going to be disgruntled, and wish it was never invented (after all nothing beats the smell of an old, used book or the inky hands your get from reading a paper "newspaper"). Either way, you cannot deny the ingenuity of their marketing strategy, introducing thsi thing on the Amazon homepage, the Monday before Thanksgiving; the perfect $400 Christmas present for the reader on the go, prone to high tech gadgetry!

Stop motion video

I can't get enough of this stuff.

political thought of the day

"Barack Obama represents "the only hope for the US in the Muslim world," according to Pulitzer-prize winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh. Because Obama's father was a Muslim, he "could lead a reconciliation between the Muslim countries and the US." With any of the other candidates as president, Hersh said, "we're facing two or three decades of problems in the Mideast, with 1.2 billion Muslims."
-Jon Weiner, The Nation

I got a fan!

This always feels good (maybe even better at 29).

An instant message session between Templeton and a younger generation skate-grom, as sent to me from Temp. Thanks.
