The Agony of Defeat

A short movie I made from part of Saturday's session. Neal and Matt get wrecked. You can't always get what you want.

Another way of watching , here. The quality still sucks, which is why I (reluctantly) just youtubed it. Come over to my house and we'll watch it as it was meant to be watched.

BUSTED (again)

So yesterday started off wonderfully enough, at a Dunkin Donuts in Virginia Beach, with some homies getting together for a skate. First stop was a gap that was a little big for any real tricks for Old Man Ash, but fun anyhow. Neal wrecked himself on it for a frontside shove it and Matt finally landed the 360 flip which you might be able to make out in mid flight through the trees...

Then after Neal and Matt both broke their boards we stopped off at the local skate shop, got new boards for them, and gathered a few more people to go shred this construction site/foundation. It was basically a flat gap to do some tricks over.
This young guy Trevor (junior in high school!) ripped it with a heelflip, varial flip and this pop shove it pictured below.

Matt clocked a 360 flip (part2) first try, switch flip, and the backside flip shown below.

It seemed safe enough until the police rolled up and the owner came out fuming at us. I figured, we'd just be asked to leave, blahblah blah, same old routine. Well, not today.

The owner was furious, as evidently, this was not the first time he's had to deal with damn skateboarders. He demanded that "something be done" and told the cop he recognized "all of us" though none of us had actually been there before. The policeman was actually pretty mellow compared to this insane Ukraninian guy (no racist). He told the policemen he wanted to "kill someone!" The guy was so pissed, talking about how we were ruining his foundation, etc. (really, we were only skating a flat gap that was the basis for a future elevator shaft of which our skateboarding would have very little, if any, effect on). After a very long wait (while the cop processed our ID's) we were all issued court summons for trespassing! Now I have to go to court in April (along with like 6 other people) for fucking skateboarding when it should have been only a warning. Oh well, I guess I am lucky it took this long. On the ride home Temp and I couldn't help wondering, "What are our wives gonna say about this!?"

(you can see the asshole in the picture below, in the background, if you look closely, by the ladder).

ny ny

New York City was really cold this weekend, but that didn't stop us from enjoying one of the most fun times there ever. Bill and Jen were super awesome and picked up two people they barely knew at the airport and put us up for three nights in their apartment in Greenpoint.

We met Daniel at Billy's work for a wine tasting on Friday night and

he took us around to a few places before we met back up with Billy for some drinks at the Boxcar Lounge in the East Village for a photo opp.

On Saturday night we stayed with Daniel in his Sunset Park digs, after a spectacular dinner at Mas (special thanks to Allie!)

Then on Sunday more shenanigans ensued after some Rad Gnar and Pad Thai in Brooklyn with this unruly crew...

Billy is quite possibly the funniest guy I know...

All in all, with two delayed flights and the bitter cold, we had a blast. However, the next time we visit New York, we will certainly choose a warmer season.

I think I know who this is.

I recently found this on YouTube. I think I have an idea who it is, but I had never seen it before.

Long times ago.

I found some cool pictures over at my brother in laws house last night...

This is quite a risque' photo for June 1941 (of Rachel's grandparents!)

This is Rachel with her three brothers (from left to Right) Aaron, Matt, Rachel (showing all!) and little Peter. Then below that, Rachel with a small tiger.

Rachel's 1st grade picture from 1985. She was 6.
